Charge it for 3 minutes, listen to music for 3 hours! Now that is convenient - especially for people like me who always forget to charge things like this the night before and then needing to use it on the go and only have like 5 minutes to recharge. On the other hand, maybe I will not have this problem too often since a full charge will last for 50 hours!
Sony made the power consumption a bit more intelligent by a software that manages the lithium ion battery's output. The unit only draws power to accomplish tasks that it needs to do and not run at full power all the time. Nice feature.
Supported file formats are: MP3, WMA, WAV and ATRAC3. Comes with SonicStage 3.2 file management software. The display is a bright 1-line OLED display.
There is a pop-up USB jack that allows for easy file transfer between the Bean and your PC.

Time to tell time differently. The usual big hand, small hand, seconds hand clock or the LCD something-or-other display clocks are getting a bit dull at look at. They are still effective at telling time but I want something different.
Then I found this: the powers of 2 BCD clock. When I was in school, BCD meant binary coded decimal. I think this is how this clock tells the time.
There are six columns of LEDs. I'm guessing that the two rightmost columns make up the seconds, the two middle ones make up the minutes and the two leftmost ones make up the hours.
Let's look at how to tell the time. Take the two rightmost columns that represents seconds. We will concentrate on the rightmost column with the 4 LEDs because once this is understood, the rest is the same.
From bottom to top, the lights represent 1, 2, 4 & 8. Why? That is how binary works. The first position is 2 to the power of 0, the second is 2 to the power of 2 and so on. That is how you get representations for 1, 2, 4 & 8 for the LEDs.
To get a sensible number, you just add up the LEDs that light up. For example, in the picture, the rightmost LEDs have the bottom three positions lit up. These represent 1, 2 & 4. Add it all up and you get 7. The second from right column has only the LED on position 2 lit up - so this is representing 2. Since the two rightmost LED columns represent seconds, the clock is showing 27 seconds!
Confused? You'll get used to it! Plus, you'll have a good excuse next time you are late - "I was late because I was trying to figure out what time it was!"
By the way, the clock is showing 7:17.27 AM.

Coffee? Tea? Espresso? Hot Chocolate? A variety of hot drinks, just one machine. Now this I gotta see...
It's called the Tassimo. Looks like one of those newer modern coffee machine. The Tassimo boasts the ability to make a hot drink of your choice. Choose from coffee, decaf, capuccino, espresso, cafe creme, tea or hot chocolate.
The machine uses little T-Discs to brew hot drinks. The T-Discs (Tassimo Discs) are basically self-contained drinks - just the right amount of coffee, tea, chocolate or concentrated milk to brew the perfect drink. Slip a disc into the Tassimo and it will recognize what to make via a barcode system. Each T-Disc has a barcode stamped on it which will trigger an automatic brewing program. There is also a manual mode if you want to tweak your coffee a bit.
One nice feature is that the blending of different drinks takes place inside individual T-Discs. This means that you can brew different drinks one after the other without having an aftertaste of the brew before. Neat.
The limiting factor would be the T-Disc system. This means that you are limited to the brand of the brew. T-Discs ingredients are from Kenco for the coffee stuff, Twinnings for the tea stuff and Suchard for the milk.

What do you do when you have a pair of oblong-ish cylinderical-ish super magnets? Pretty much anything I would say - just don't park it next to your hard drive...
I have read that these magnets will still attract each other through a 1-inch thick wooden barrier! People say that you can feel the magnetic attraction when you seperate the magnets in your hand. If you hover one above the other, the one at the bottom will stand up. You could probably screw up the audio quality if you put one next to a speaker!
Then there's the funny shape. The shape causes the magnets to wobble when you toss them making a kind of zinging sound - like when you bounce a marble on a marble floor and then take a piece of flat wood or something and start limiting the space in which the marble can bounce so that the marbel bounces off the wood and strikes the floor at an increasing frequency. Hope that makes sense.

Okay, so this is not really a gadget but it is a cool toy. This thing is about 7cm long and takes to the water like a duck... err... more like a seal actually.
There is a neat 'turbo dive' button sitting on top of the remote controller. Pressing this button sends the sub under really quickly. There is also a front headlight for those deep exploration missions - in a murky swimming pool or something.
Radio control is up to 3 meters. You can make the sub go up/down, left/right and forward/backward. The controller unit is powered by 2 AAA batteries. The sub is powered by 1 AAA battery which could last you up to 2 hours.
The sub also comes with a ballast that you could choose to mount to adjust the buoyancy.
What I need to do is to mount a micro camera on the sub and then fashion some sort of torpedo unit....
